We are excited to acknowledge the great work she has contributed to the Northeast Florida community as an entrepreneur and business leader. Her passion and energy for engaging our growing Hispanic population in Jacksonville was recognized when she was selected as the Hispanic Outreach Coordinator in the Jacksonville Mayor’s office. We look forward to the first ever, city sponsored event, Unidos Jax, October 3rd, honoring the many contributions of our Hispanic community. Many in our community have seen her star rising, and we acknowledge her gifts by awarding her leadership and recognizing her talent, creativity, and passion in Jacksonville.
Community Education Award – This award recognizes those who have made a large contribution to our local community through involvement in community service, organized projects, and /or promoted diversity while still striving for excellence.
Dr. Jamison is a dedicated teacher at Edward Waters, shaping young minds, but also influencing our city. With the tragic racial shootings last year at the Dollar General, his work at 904ward, especially with the Jacksonville Community Remembrance project, has helped our community heal and grieve together. His faithful leadership with the JCRP is vital to our path forward as we learn and process all parts of our history. Many in our community have been profoundly shaped by the trips to Montgomery that he has helped facilitate. His role with the Jacksonville History Center has helped reshape the lens through which we see our history in Northeast Florida.
Mutual Curiosity Award – This award recognizes and celebrates an exemplary effort to build mutual curiosity in northeast Florida around matter of interfaith concern.
2024 Award winner: The Very Rev. Katherine B. (Kate) Moorehead Carroll, St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral
We loved working with Dean Kate last year at our annual Ramadan event at the Jacksonville Jewish Center and really appreciate the openness she had as one of our panelists. Furthermore, we have watched her engage in other Interfaith circles, eager to learn from others and respectful of the variety of religious and non-religious traditions we have here in Northeast Florida. We have also noticed how engaged she and the Cathedral are in our city, particularly fighting for affordable housing and advocating for those amongst us who are homeless.
