Friday August 24 2018 5:30 – 7:30pm – dinner, education and entertainment
2032 Southside Blvd, Jacksonville
Atlantic Institute of Jacksonville held a dinner to celebrate the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha. The celebration commemorates the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ishmael as an act of obedience to Allah. Eid al-Adha is also known as the Festival of Sacrifice or the Greater Eid, and is one of the two most important celebrations in the Muslim calendar.
Board member Dr. Parvez Ahmed gave a presentation on the significance and rituals of the celebration. A delicious meal was shared by the 80+ people in attendance with food prepared by ladies from three Islamic countries, Turkey, Indonesia and India. A big thank you for those who cooked for the event.
The family orientated event provided the unique art activity of beautiful Ebru painting or Turkish marbling with Ishenur Cayir guiding budding artists, and musician Baran Dur played the violin for the audience.
